- Chat avatar - Establishes the mode of learning – a simulated chat with a coach.
- Prompt - Cognician uses a variety of prompt types, with which the virtual coach can engage the learner. Open-ended thought-provoking questions, multiple choice questions, likert scales, among others, mean that instructional designers can vary the learning experience considerably.
- User’s response field - The response field ensures that we elicit “self-explanations” which keeps the mind of the user actively engaged. Research shows that learning experiences involving self-explanations can yield learning gains up to two standard deviations higher than traditional classroom learning gains.
- Sessions - Learners can access their worksheets on any device at any time. The same cog can be used many times, creating multiple worksheets. And learners can share their worksheets with colleagues and instructors.

- Active users - A page that displays a detailed view of individual user engagement that shows first and last active dates, worksheets, and insights, and allows group administrators to tag learners.

- Visualised data - A 30-day view of activity, which can be customised to show specific client data.
