Cognician is among the best online learning platforms in the world. We have our eyes on the top spot and we’re looking for an Account and Project Manager who wants to help us get there by fostering great relationships and driving projects. You’ll have the opportunity to support the realisation of great programmes in South Africa, the UK and Europe. You will also liaise with our office in San Francisco, who handle our programmes in North and South America, China and Australasia. The role is as much about relationship development as it is about executing the tasks necessary to realise building the programmes. Ultimately, you’re responsible for communicating with all stakeholders to meet deadlines, within scope and according to the brief.

- Check in on the status of all your projects with clients in South Africa, the UK, Europe and the USA.
- Check in with key contacts via email or phone.
- You have several regular weekly calls with your key client contacts. Your review all past actions, look at what is in in studio and what is still to come. You constantly keep an eye out for possible bumps in the road, to ensure we are constantly mitigating against risks by contingency planning. You continuously revisit the projects measures of success, so that we can ensure either a successful rollout or a definite renewal.
- You connect with key members of the team internally to check on deadlines and plan tasks in the tech sprint for the week.
- You finish off the day knowing how you are going to deliver excellence during the week ahead!
- You meet with a client to discuss the latest updates to collateral for a programme we are building for them.
- You prepare for a kick-off call with one of our European clients. You study the LinkedIn profiles of the people you’re about to meet on the call. On the call you hear that the client wants Cognician to create a custom learning programme for its middle management team. Throughout the call you’re asking questions and you’re listening. You’re asking about the outcomes they want to achieve with their programme, and you’re probing for details that will help us to construct an ideal learning solution. You notice the client’s throw-away comments, which represent opportunities to create value for the client and Cognician. As always, you record minutes and action items in WorkLife and you mail all stakeholders after the call to drive next steps.
- You collaborate closely with one of our Senior Learning Solutions Architect’s; who is working on a proposal for a UK client. Together – you are following the ADDIE model and you’re analysing the company’s learning requirements by trying to understand the ideal individual mindset that would contribute to the outcome they want to achieve.
- You meet with one of our clients subject matter experts and chair a workshop with them and our internal team, in order to harvest their conceptual approach to a programme we are designing. You capture all action points, notes and timelines; and share with the team for follow up.
- You have two more calls with clients to demonstrate the updates to the programmes we are building for them. You get their feedback and sign-off on work. You capture all action points, with deadlines and alert the relevant members of the team for follow up.
- You pick up a support query through our online request form. You follow up on the query as a potential client relationship.
- You visit a client to discuss the production schedule for new content. On returning to the office, you forward all the relevant information to our CFO, so they can prepare a quote. You share this with the client when ready.
- Three more calls today. These clients are all based in the UK & Europe, and they’re planning to roll out an existing Cognician-based product offering. One of them is also doing a major custom development project with Cognician.
- You prepare an initial project timeline for the custom development job and share with the client for their approval.
- You brief the production team on the major custom development project with the UK client, which will begin next week and last for at least three months.
- You build a project plan for this custom development job in collaboration with the production team and our COO. To do this you use Teamgantt, an online project development package.
- You mail the client and share the project plan with them for comment.
- You also begin the onboarding process for one of our partner’s clients in Europe, who signed up last week. This includes setting them up on our platform and ensuring correct permissions are set between our partner’s platform and ours, and that all group member’s details and permissions are accurate. There is zero margin for error here.
- You craft a communications strategy to share with one of our North American clients. You have collated the information they have shared from their learning and development planning meetings. You identify where you can help the client to plan their blended learning programme for operators and team leaders, which will span the next 12 months. You write copy for emails and text messages, you propose when these will be sent, the precise time of day – and the many ways the client could communicate with their people to get them engaged in the programme.
- Throughout the day you are communicating with the Cognician team in San Francisco on Flowdock, our online chat space.
- You attend a launch event with one of Clients who are implementing a bespoke programme we have created for them. You use the opportunity to meet face to face with key stakeholders and ensure you follow up via email to thank them and foster great relationships.
- Our partner’s UK-based client who wants to do a three-month custom-developed learning project with Cognician has come back to us and requested a few changes to our project plan. You adjust timelines and tasks accordingly in collaboration with our COO and the production team, and you get back to the client, who signs off later in the day.
- You assign tasks to the production team for the three month project using Asana, our online task management package.
- You work through some of programmes for yourself! You reflect on your actions and thoughts over the last while; and discover where you have some space to improve and where you are thriving. You feel inspired and take a book from our library to learn more.

- Briefing the production team on the creation of partner products and customised learning programmes.
- Collaborating with our COO to manage the production of new content for our partner and their clients, with effective daily and monthly management and planning of work, ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met, to scope and within budget.
- Ensuring a seamless working environment by providing effective cross-functional communication.
- Ensuring that all client knowledge built up in the course of work is effectively managed, stored and maintained for current and future use.

- Bachelor’s degree or similar
- Minimum 5 years total account, project management or related experience.
- A background in project management, learning, technology, HR or corporate learning.
- Excellent writing and influencing skills

- Excellent command of MS Office or Google docs
- General comfort in working with multiple software platforms
